Celina M. Lopez Leon

Celina joined the Law Office of Ralph Rodriguez in April of 2016.  Prior to joining the office, Celina practiced primarily criminal law for seven years. During that time, she had the opportunity to first chair over twenty trials at the county court level, and approximately ten felony jury trials at the district court level. She has  represented clients on over twenty appeals, arguing in the Thirteenth Court of Appeals three times.  Celina also represented a client in a Texas landmark civil forfeiture case where she argued in the Texas Supreme Court in Austin – while eight and a half months pregnant and in the middle of a murder trial (her client received a lesser-included manslaughter conviction and probation)! 

Since starting at the Law Office of Ralph Rodriguez in April 2016, Celina has attended approximately 175 depositions (as of the end of 2017), fifty-five mediations, and has argued countless motions in courts all over South Texas.  She also continues to practice criminal defense. Celina loves people, litigation, and working in a fast-paced environment. She has a strong passion for helping the less fortunate and the wrongfully convicted.

Celina obtained her law degree from the University of Missouri in 2009, where she co-founded the Hispanic Law Student Association, spearheaded numerous organizations, participated in the Innocence Project clinic, and studied abroad in Capetown, South Africa.  She was also selected to clerk for the ACLU Capital Punishment Project in Durham, North Carolina, where she helped get offenders off death row.  Celina received her bachelor’s degree in is music performance, where she graduated cum laude, from Texas Tech University.  She also obtained a master’s degree from Tech in Higher Education and worked heavily with new student orientation.  Celina received numerous awards and accolades throughout her tenure as a student.

When she has free time, Celina loves spending time with her husband and three children, who keep her on her toes. She loves trying new thing things, traveling, and baking.
